Christian Father Commits Suicide After ISIS Members Rape Wife and Daughter in Front of Him Because He Couldn't Pay Poll Tax

A Christian father who watched his wife and daughter get brutally raped by members of the militant group, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) because he couldn't pay them a poll tax in Mosul, Iraq, killed himself under the weight of the trauma this past weekend.

A report from the Assyrian International News Agency said ISIS began enforcing Islamic laws in the northern Iraq city which they overran on June 10.

Dr. Sallama Al-Khafaji of the Iraq High Commission for Human Rights said the incident happened on Saturday after ISIS began asking Christians in Mosul for a poll tax.

"In one instance, ISIS members entered the home of an Assyrian family in Mosul and demanded the poll tax (jizya). When the Assyrian family said they did not have the money, three ISIS members raped the mother and daughter in front of the husband and father. The husband and father was so traumatized that he committed suicide," said the report.

"The Christians have told me that they cannot pay this tax," Dr. Al-Khafaji told AINA, "and they say 'what am I to do, shall I kill myself?'"

Four Christian women were also reportedly shot dead by ISIS members because they were not wearing veils.

U.S. officials told CNN that they believe ISIS now has about 10,000 fighters in Iraq and Syria and the group has been functioning as an "increasingly capable military force."

According to a spokesman for Iraq's counterterrorism service, two senior ISIS members – an Algerian militant named Abu Omar al-Baghdadi and Abu Hafsa, self-styled governor of Tikrit – were killed late Monday during airstrikes in Tikrit, famous for being the hometown of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met with Iraqi Kurdish President Massoud Barzani and other officials on Tuesday and Barzani painted a dire picture of security.

"We are facing a new reality and a new Iraq," Barzani told Kerry.

Barzani told CNN Monday that it may now be time for Kurds to push for their independence from Iraq because the country was crumbling.

"Iraq is obviously falling apart," he said. "And it's obvious that the federal or central government has lost control over everything. Everything is collapsing – the army, the troops, the police."

Muslim Dad Burns Daughter to Death for Walking Home with a Boy

 A father in Tunisia was accused of burning his 13-year-old daughter to death for walking home from school with a boy classmate. The girl Aya, who was a middle school student, was treated for nine days in the hospital before she finally succumbed to her fourth degree burns on June 7th. Thereafter, her father was arrested.

Reportedly, her death was the result of honour killing – a murder carried out by immediate family when a relative is perceived to have brought shame upon all members.  While such incidents are a common affair in countries like Syria and Pakistan, local media say honour killings are almost unheard of in modern-day Tunisia.

Following Aya’s death, activists called for a social media movement so that the incident would receive greater coverage globally. They also organized a march in solidarity for the victim on June 19.

“I cannot believe that this case could fall into oblivion… What happened is an unacceptable crime. Further, the reactions of some people who justify this barbaric act reflect the degree of ignorance that prevails in the country,” said a blogger in a Facebook post.  

Many people believe that this incident is symbolic of how Tunisia “continues to demonize the female gender.” A particular study from 2013 shows how attacks on women have increased over a period spanning across two decades – from 1989 to 2009. The figure could imply either a definite increase in the number of attacks or a heightened willingness to report them.

Pakistan woman stoned to death by family outside Lahore court

A Pakistani woman has been killed by her relatives outside Lahore High Court for marrying against their wishes.

Police said 30-year old Farzana Bibi died on the spot after being attacked with bricks and sticks.

Her father handed himself in, but police say her brothers and former fiance, who also took part in the attack, were still free.

Correspondents say hundreds of girls and women in Pakistan are killed every year by family members.

However, many more killings are believed to go unreported.

Farzana Bibi's parents accused her husband, Muhammad Iqbal, of kidnapping her, and had filed a case against him at the High Court.

However, she testified to police that she had married him of her own accord. Police said the couple had been engaged for a number of years.

As she arrived at the court building for a hearing, police said about a dozen family members pulled her aside and began to attack her and her husband, who managed to escape.

Police official Umer Cheema told Reuters that all the family members escaped after the killing, apart from her father, who has admitted his role in her death.

The BBC's Shumaila Jaffery says marriage against the wishes of relatives is culturally unacceptable in some parts of Pakistan.

Under Pakistani law, the victim's family is allowed to forgive the killer. However, in many cases family members are themselves responsible for the killing.

Horrifying human trafficking in the form of marriages to Arabs continue to plague the poverty-stricken Muslim community in Hyderabad's Old City. Hardly within a month of a shocking incident reported in this paper, two such incidents have come to fore.

The Andhra Pradesh police on Saturday night arrested Omani national Madasari Rashed Masaaod Rashed, a 61-year-old landlord from Ibri city, for allegedly marrying two minor Muslim girls from Hyderabad's Old City after he allegedly negotiated for a sum of Rs1.4 lakh. Police said Rashed had paid Rs60,000 to the parents of the first bride and Rs80,000 for the second bride, besides payments to the brokers, qazis and others.

Rashed was picked up at a posh apartment complex in Banjara hills along with 11 others, including two fake qazis and the girls' parents, following a tip-off from a 'brides' who escaped his clutches.

While police have slapped charges of rape, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and Prohibition of Child Marriages Act on Rashed, the victims' parents have been booked under the Prohibition of Child Marriages Act. While two fake qazi's, three women brokers and middlemen were arrested, the kingpin of the racket, Habeeb, is absconding.

"The Omani national came to Hyderabad in first week of April as a medical tourist and approached four agents — Mohammed Jaffar Ali, Kareemunnisa Begum, Amena Begum and Mohammed Osman — for a young bride of below the age of 16 years and offered to pay as much as the girl's parents demanded," sub-inspector N Srisailam said

On interrogation, the police found that the qazi Mohammed Ghouse Mohiuddin who conducted the marriage of the minor girl at his home in Bilal Nagar on April 9 was paid Rs5,000. But the girl escaped when she was taken to Rashid's flat at Park Avenue apartment. So the Omani national wanted the broilers to fix another wedding which was done by the brokers gang and the second wedding was performed within one week by a fake qazi, (an employee at a local mosque) on April 15, says S Tripathi, police DCP of south zone.

Mohiuddin maintained his innocence, saying that the girl's parents as Habeeb showed the age of the first girl as 19 in the documents given to him.

The scandal of sham Arab weddings was exposed by Air India air hostess Amritha Ahluwalia way back in nineties when she rescued 12-year-old Ameena Begum wedded to a 60-year-old Sheikh on the Hyderabad-Mumbai flight and onward journey to Dubai.Thereafter, the Hyderabad city police set up a separate unit to monitor the activities of these ring leaders including — qazis, brothers, hotel and guest house owners — who spotted poor families with young brides and also the aged foreign nationals.

Initially, mostly oil rich Arab sheikhs were the suspects. But nowadays even students from Nigeria, Oman and other African countries engaged in such 'weddings'. The young brides were also often exploited to smuggle drugs and gold as well. "We have cracked at least 10 to 15 such student weddings," the Humayunnagar police claim.

The sheikh tied the knot the same day in a simple no-frills ceremony, presided over by one Mansoor Ali. There were no witnesses at the wedding.

“The Arab married all three of us within 10 minutes of one another. All three of us spent several days with him at a city lodge,” Afreen said.

Last Monday, the sheikh told the girls to go home and come back after two days. When the girls went back on Wednesday, he was gone.

Panicky, they went to Mumtaz’s house. It was locked. So they decided to go to the police.

A police raid the same day on Mumtaz’s house came a cropper. Yesterday, however, the police managed to track the touts at the fake moulvi Mansoor Ali’s house. All four were arrested.

Deputy police commissioner (west zone) Shandilya said the marriage modus operandi was so “stereotyped” that it was amazing how people could fall into the trap over and over again.

“It has become so common we don’t know how people in the old city fall prey to it again and again,” he said.

Muslim man chops off her wife's fingers to stop her from studying

A jealous husband is facing life in prison after chopping off his wife's fingers because she began studying for a degree without his permission.

Rafiqul Islam, 30, blindfolded his wife Hawa Akhter, 21, and taped her mouth, telling her he was going to give her a surprise present.

Instead he made her hold out her hand and cut off all five fingers. One of his relatives then threw Ms Akhter's fingers in the dustbin to ensure doctors could not reattach them.

Mr Islam, who is a migrant worker in the United Arab Emirates, had warned his wife there would 'severe consequences' if she did not give up her studies.
'After he came back to Bangladesh, he wanted to have a discussion with me,' Ms Akhter told The Times.

'Suddenly, he blindfolded me and tied my hand. He also taped my mouth saying that he would give me some surprise gifts. But, instead he cut off my fingers.'

Mohammed Saluddin, the Bangladesh police chief said that Mr Islam had confessed after he was arrested in the capital, Dhaka, and will face charges of permanent disfiguration.

Human rights groups are demanding life imprisonment.

'He was enraged. He was jealous because while he only had a grade eight standard education, she was off to college to pursue higher studies,' said Mr Saluddin.

Ms Akhter says she is learning to write with her left hand and is determined to resume her studies. She is now back at her parent's house.

The attack is the latest in a series of acts targeting educated women in the Muslim-majority company.

In June, an unemployed man gouged out the eyes of his wife, an assistant professor at Dhaka University, apparently because he could not stand her pursuing higher studies at a Canadian University.

There was an  incident in 2012 when a 15 year old Muslim girl left her home and got married. The Delhi High Court acknowledged the marriage and said Muslim girl can marry at 15 if attains puberty.

The fact is that there is no minimum age for marriage in Islam. A Muslim man can marry a girl regardless of her age. A Muslim can even marry one year old girl.

Dr. Ahmad Al-Mu'bi, a Saudi marriage officiant said, "there is no minimal age for entering marriage. You can have a marriage contract even with a 1 year old girl, not to mention a girl of 9, 7, or 8. This is merely a contract [indicating] consent. The guardian in such a case must be the father, because the father’s opinion is obligatory. Thus, the girl becomes a wife.” 
“But is the girl ready for sex or not? What is the appropriate age for having sex for the first time? This varies according to environment and traditions. In Yemen, girls are married off at 9, 10, 11, 8, or 13, while in other countries, they are married off at 16. Some countries have legislated laws forbidding having sex before the girl is 18,” he said.

He confirmed that Prophet Muhammad is their role model (not a surprise). He took Aisha to be his wife when she was 6, but he had sex with her only when she was 9.

I was breathless then, and when my breathing became Allright, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, "Best wishes and Allah's Blessing and a good luck." Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah's Apostle came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age.

Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64 :
Narrated by 'Aisha
That the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death).

Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 65 :
Narrated by 'Aisha
That the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old. Hisham said: I have been informed that 'Aisha remained with the Prophet for nine years (i.e. till his death)." What you know of the Quran (by heart)'

So Muhammad married Aisha when she was six years old and had sex (consummated) with her when she was 9 years old.
Muslims follow Muhammad and it should not be a surprise why so many Muslim men in Muslim countries marry 8,9,10 year old girls.

Yemeni child bride dies of internal bleeding
A 12-year-old Yemeni bride died of internal bleeding following intercourse three days after she was married off to an older man, the United Nations Children's Fund said.
The girl was only 12 years old and was married to a man at least twice her age. This is an indication how girls in Muslim countries are married too soon.

A Saudi writer who has over 100000 twitter followers tells his followers to sexually molest working women at public places, women who work outside in places like shops, malls and offices so that they are forced to remain at home and protect their chastity.
