Muslim assailants attack police and other people with knives in Xinjiang in which 17 people were killed including 9 police officers or security officials.
Xinjiang is a home to large Muslim population. There have been many riots in the past in Xinjiang province. It is a region in China where tensions between Muslims and Chinese always exist.
