Indian author Sushmita Banerjee, who wrote a memoir about her escape from the Taliban, has been shot dead in Afghanistan by terrorists according to Afghan authorities.

Sushmita Banerjee, a Hindu, was married to Jaanbaz Khan, a Muslim under the Special Marriage Act on July 2, 1988.
Sushmita defied her family in order to marry Jaanbaz. They married secretly, fearing parental objection. But her parents discovered the marriage and tried to get them divorced. This made them flee from Kolkata to Afghanistan, Jaanbaz's native land.

At the time of marriage Sushmita didn't know that her husband Janbaz has another wife (polygamy).
These are the words of Sushmita and I quote:
"In reality, when I saw them in bed together, I was stunned, as I did not know that my husband had another wife at that time."

Later she came to know that her husband has another wife when she saw them together in bed but it was too late when she came to know about all this she already defied her family who were against this marriage and she couldn't have returned back so she was trapped.
Basically she was made a fool by her Muslim lover.
At the end she died because of Islamic extremism, what a sad story.
