Dogs are Haram and against Islam

When you ask a Muslim why are Muslims not allowed to keep dogs as pet they will usually say because dogs are unclean animals and carry diseases.
So what even animals and birds that we eat like chicken can also have diseases. But  this answer that dogs are unclean animals thats why Muslims are not allowed to keep them is wrong, either they don't know the true story or they are lying and don't want to tell you the true story behind it.

I have seen so many Indian Muslims who haven't read Quran in detail let alone Hadith like Sahih Bukhari and still they say Islam is great, because they just follow their Mullahs and believe what their family has told them and never bother to read whats written in their books and think critically.
Never defend your faith always question it.

I will show you the real reason why dogs are considered bad in Islam and till today in there are restrictions on dogs in Saudi Arabia like in the city of Mecca dogs are not allowed.

Tafsir Asbab Al-Nuzul by Al-Wahidi
(They ask thee (O Muhammad) what is made lawful for them…) [5:4]. Abu Bakr al-Harithi informed us> Abu’l-Shaykh al-Hafiz> Abu Yahya> Sahl ibn ‘Uthman> Yahya ibn Abi Za’idah> Musa ibn ‘Ubayda> Aban ibn Salih> al-Qa‘qa’ ibn Hakim> Salma Umm Rafi‘> Abu Rafi‘ who said: “The Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and give him peace, commanded me to kill dogs. But people said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is made lawful for us from this community [of dogs] which we are commanded to kill?’ And so Allah, exalted is He, revealed (They ask thee (O Muhammad) what is made lawful for them. Say: (all) good things are made lawful for you. And those beasts and birds of prey)”. This was narrated by al-Hakim Abu ‘Abd Allah in his Sahih> Abu Bakr ibn Balawayh> Muhammad ibn Shadhan> Mu‘alla ibn Mansur> Ibn Abi Za’idah. The commentators of the Qur’an said in explanation of this story: “Said Abu Rafi‘: ‘Gabriel, peace be upon him, went to see the Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace, but did not enter in on the Prophet even though he was granted permission to enter. The Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and give him peace, came out and said to him: ‘We have given you permission to enter, O Gabriel!’ He said: ‘Yes, you have, O Messenger of Allah, except that we do not enter a house where there is a picture or a dog’. They looked around and found that there was a puppy in one of the rooms’. Abu Rafi‘ said: ‘The Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace, commanded me to kill every dog in Medina. I proceeded with the execution of the command until I reached al-‘Awali where I found a woman who kept a dog for her protection. Out of compassion for her, I did not kill her dog. I went back to the Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace, and informed him of what had happened, and he commanded me to go back and kill it. I went back and killed it. When the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and give him peace, commanded the killing of dogs, a group of people went to him and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, What is lawful for us of this community that we have been commanded to kill?’ The Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and give him peace, did not answer, and then Allah, exalted is He, revealed this verse.

Explanation:
Prophet Muhammad ordered his followers to kill every dog in Madina.

Why did he ordered to kill dogs ?
It is believed that Angel Gabriel used to reveal verses of Quran to Muhammad, Gabriel delivered message of Allah to Muhammad.
One day Gabriel went to see Muhammad but did not enter Muhammad's house. Gabriel said we do not enter a house where there is a picture or a dog.
They looked around and saw a puppy in one of the rooms in Muhammad's house. After that Muhammad ordered his followers to kill every dog in Madina.

Why kill every dog, just move that dog out of the house after that Gabriel would enter why kill every dog. Was there something wrong with Muhammad ? How is he merciful seems like he is an evil and mad person. A person who orders to kill dogs, is that a person with good character ? I leave it for you to think.

I will show you more proof about this story from the most authentic Hadith Sahih Bukhari that every Muslim follows.

Narrated by Salim's father
Once Gabriel promised the Prophet (that he would visit him, but Gabriel did not come) and later on he said, "We, angels, do not enter a house which contains a picture or a dog."

Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 72, Number 843
Narrated by Salim's father
Once Gabriel promised to visit the Prophet but he delayed and the Prophet got worried about that. At last he came out and found Gabriel and complained to him of his grief (for his delay). Gabriel said to him, "We do not enter a place in which there is a picture or a dog."

Narrated by 'Abdullah bin 'Umar
Allah's Apostle ordered that the dogs should be killed.  

See this is written in Hadith and Muslims follow it. I am not writing anything from outside, I am just telling you whats written in their books.

Abu Talha, a companion of Allah's Apostle and one of those who fought at Badr together with Allah's Apostle told me that Allah's Apostle said. "Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture" He meant the images of creatures that have souls.

The Prophet said, "Angels do not enter a house witch has either a dog or a picture in it."

I heard Allah's Apostle saying; "Angels (of Mercy) do not enter a house wherein there is a dog or a picture of a living creature (a human being or an animal)."

Muhammad also said that a Muslim loses credit for good deeds (good things he has done in his life)  each day he keeps a dog and even said dogs should be killed unless used for hunting or protection.
So according to Muhammad if a Muslim keeps a dog as pet then every day he will loose reward for his good deeds until he keeps that dog.
Later there was an exception that you can use dogs for guarding your farm or cattle or for protection but you cannot keep a dog as your pet you cannot allow a dog to enter your house. So clearly Muhammad hated dogs.

And obviously its mentioned in Hadith:

Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 67, Number 389Narrated by Ibn 'Umar
The Prophet said, "Whoever keeps a (pet) dog which is neither a watch dog nor a hunting dog, will get a daily deduction of two Qirat from his good deeds."

Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 54, Number 542
Narrated by Sufyan bin Abi Zuhair Ash-Shani
That he heard Allah's Apostle saying, "If somebody keeps a dog that is neither used for farm work nor for guarding the livestock, he will lose one Qirat (of the reward) of his good deeds everyday."

Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 67, Number 390
Narrated by 'Abdullah bin Umar
I heard the Prophet saying, "If someone keeps a dog neither for hunting, nor for guarding livestock, the reward (for his good deeds) will be reduced by two Qirats per day."

Sahih Bukhari Volume 3, Book 39, Number 515
Narrated by Abu Huraira
Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever keeps a dog, one Qirat of the reward of his good deeds is deducted daily, unless the dog is used for guarding a farm or cattle." Abu Huraira (in another narration) said from the Prophet, "unless it is used for guarding sheep or farms, or for hunting." Narrated Abu Hazim from Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "A dog for guarding cattle or for hunting."

Sahih Bukhari Volume 3, Book 39, Number 516
Narrated by As-Sa'ib bin Yazid
Abu Sufyan bin Abu Zuhair, a man from Azd Shanu'a and one of the companions of the Prophet said, "I heard Allah's Apostle saying, 'If one keeps a dog which is meant for guarding neither a farm nor cattle, one Qirat of the reward of his good deeds is deducted daily." I said, "Did you hear this from Allah's Apostle?" He said, "Yes, by the Lord of this Mosque."

Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 54, Number 541
Narrated by Abu Huraira
Allah's Apostle said, "If somebody keeps a dog, he loses one Qirat (of the reward) of his good deeds everyday, except if he keeps it for the purpose of agriculture or for the protection of livestock. "

So no use of doing good deeds if you keep dog as a pet because those good deeds will cancel out everyday until you keep that dog.
For all the above reasons and because Muhammad didn't like dogs many religious Muslims also don't like dogs and they say dogs are unclean animals but they don't tell you the story why they are considered unclean.

Muhammad also said it is not a sin to kill 5 kinds of animals, namely: the crow, the kite, the mouse, the scorpion and the rabid dog

Sahih Bukhari Volume 3, Book 29, Number 54 
Narrated by Hafsa
Allah's Apostle said, "It is not sinful (of a Muhrim) to kill five kinds of animals, namely: the crow, the kite, the mouse, the scorpion and the rabid dog."

Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 54, Number 532
Narrated by 'Abdullah bin 'Umar
Allah's Apostle said, "It is not sinful of a person in the state of Ihram to kill any of these five animals: The scorpion, the rat, the rabid dog, the crow and the kite."

Because Muhammad hated dogs this is why in Saudi Arabia dogs are not allowed to enter the city of Mecca. There are restrictions on dogs in Saudi Arabia.
In 2006, religious police of Saudi Arabia known as Muttawa banned the sale of dogs.
